Il sepolcro monumentale di Galileo

The monumental tomb of Galileo

In front of Galileo's tomb, Foscolo unfolds his thoughts more: he remembers the Pisan scientist's observations with the telescope to the immense sidereal spaces; he mentions his theories about the multiplicity of worlds and the confirmation of Copernican heliocentrism; in addition it recalls the importance of Galileo for the subsequent studies of Newton (buried in Westminster Abbey, next to the English sovereigns).
