How the story ends

Tarzan befriends the men of the expedition and, trusting them, leads Clayton to the place where the gorillas live.

Clayton, by deception, tries to catch the gorillas who are instead saved by Tarzan.

In the confrontation with Tarzan, Clayton gets caught in a vine and dies.

Tarzan decides to stay in the jungle with the gorillas, who are his real family for him, and not to follow his fellow men.

Jane stays with him because they love each other.
