Il governo dell'antica Roma

The government of ancient Rome

As we said earlier, the first form of government was entrusted to a king and aristocrats.

It was during the monarchy (from 753 BC to 509 BC) that Rome was transformed from village to city, starting the conquest of neighboring cities.

From 509 BC to 31 BC, however, the Republican era began.

In this period Rome expanded to southern Italy and came to include all the lands overlooking the Mediterranean.

From 31 BC to 476 AD the period of imperial Rome began and reached its maximum expansion.

Rome's power came to rule in three different continents: Europe, Asia, Africa.

The great Roman territory included, in the period of maximum expansion and splendor, all the major civilizations in bloom already present previously in the Mediterranean.
