Giulio Cesare a fumetti

Julius Caesar in comics

Asterix is a French comic series created by René Goscinny (texts) and Albert Uderzo (drawings).

Set in ancient Gaul at the time of Julius Caesar, around 50 BC, it features the Gallic warrior Asterix, his best friend Obelix, and all the inhabitants of their small Gallic village in Armorica, which insists on resisting the Roman conquest .

Julius Caesar's character is inspired by the true historical figure.

The dictator is represented ironically, but in comic adventures he does not express himself in Romanesque, he does so instead in the Italian dubbing of some cartoon episodes.

More than as a despotic leader and with absolute authority, he is portrayed as a man grappling with the many problems that power entails, with traits very similar to those of a current head of government.

He is obsessed with the presence of the village of Asterix, the only pocket of resistance to Roman rule over Gaul, but in the last stories he shows himself more open and ends up developing first respect and therefore even friendship towards the roosters.
